VU Students Secure 3rd Position in Huawei ICT Competition Finals

VU Students Secure 3rd Position in Huawei ICT Competition Finals

The team comprised of VU students secured 3rd position in the Huawei ICT Competition 2018, Middle East International Finals held in Huawei headquarters in Shenzhen, China.
Huawei in collaboration with Higher Education Commission Pakistan invited colleges and universities across Pakistan to participate in the ICT competition to promote the ICT industry technology certification, and develop the local ICT industry talent and ecosystem. Over 14,748 students registered for the competition from the region. Out of the 4,915 students who attended, 214 were selected for the national final. Ultimately, 39 students were chosen for the international final, from 13 universities including Virtual University of Pakistan.
The team which secured third position out of 13 participating teams included Zohaib Anwer, Asim Fareed from Virtual University of Pakistan and Jawaria Abbas from Lahore Leads University. These three team members took part in the 8 hours Final Exam on 24th November 2018 and received an honor to walk away with third prize.
The Award ceremony held on 25th November in Huawei HQ office was attended by distinguished Huawei leader, Ambassadors and representatives of 13 Middle East Countries. On the occasion the Counsel General of Pakistan Dr. Diyar Khan addressed the students and congratulated them for their achievement.
Virtual University of Pakistan encourages its students to nurture their innate talents and we are delighted to see our students' accomplishments across the globe.

Students with blocked accounts will not be able to carry out academic activities. It is therefore advised to clear all outstanding dues at the earliest, in order to avoid any inconvenience.

OVERSEAS EXAM SOFTWARE INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION – FALL 2018 MID TERM

Overseas Exam Software and related materials have been made available for download. Please make sure to install latest exam application available on the link given below. You must follow the sequence of instructions given below for smooth and error free installation:
INSTRUCTIONS
1.     Visit the link http://qb.vu.edu.pk
2.     For downloading, login with your VULMS student ID and password.
3.     Download and install materials one by one. i.e. VUTES and TeamViewer 8
4.     After installation, you must go through the “User Manual” for know how to attempt your paper.
5.     An icon will be visible on your desktop. Please double click the icon to run the demo test. You may test your installation by joining any of the following sessions till December 20, 2018 during the specified session timings as mentioned below:
Session 1:      08:30 A.M to 09:30 A.M (PST)
Session 2:      10:30 A.M to 11:30 A.M (PST)
Session 3:      12:00 P.M to 01:00 P.M (PST)
Session 4:      02:30 P.M to 03:30 P.M (PST)
Session 5:      04:00 P.M to 05:00 P.M (PST)
6.     Please use your student ID as login and password for login into the exam application to check demo test. For example

To mark “National Voters’ Day” Virtual University of Pakistan (VUP) in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) organized awareness walks and seminars on Friday, December 07, 2018 in different cities across Pakistan.  A big number of students participated in the events with aim to strengthen democratic system in the country.
In Lahore, awareness walk started from VUP Davis Road Campus and ended near Press Club Lahore. A large number of people from different walks of life joined students to express their solidarity with the democratic cause. During the awareness walk, they raised slogans to strengthen the democracy by casting vote. Later, the students discussed their major concerns regarding their role in elections and factors influencing the vote casting decisions. They stressed that   people should play their due role in progress and prosperity of the country.

Criteria for award of Merit Based Scholarship

The Management Committee for Scholarships has finalized the candidates for Merit Scholarships (Continuing Students) for Fall, 2018. While considering the award of Merit Scholarship, following criteria has been observed in addition to the Student Scholarship Regulations, 2015.

Explanation of Table:

Position means merit position based on semester GPA. For merit based scholarship first 10 positions are considered as per Student Scholarship Regulations, 2015 (excluding freeze and drop cases).
Percentage of tuition fee based on position means scholarship percentage based on merit position i.e 100% for position 1 to 3 and 50% for others, if any.
GPA means semester GPA of the semester on which a student is being considered for merit based scholarship.
Percentage of tuition fee based on GPA means scholarship percentage based on semester GPA of the semester on which a student is being considered for merit based scholarship. It is 100% if student has semester GPA between 3.85 and 4; it is 75% if semester GPA is between 3.65 and 3.84 and it is 50% if semester GPA is between 3.25 and 3.64.
Final Scholarship Awarded means Final scholarship percentage of tuition fee which is to be awarded to a student. It is product of merit position scholarship percentage and semester GPA scholarship percentage.
